Ancestor's Name: David, Saltz City: Kishinev
Country: Russia Posting date: 01/29/2004 Description: I am trying to find relations of David and Anna (Enie or Enic) Soltz (Saltz). They were Jews that may have been from Kishinev. David, a shoemaker came to the US March 1904 at age 41 and Anna came December 1904 at age 35 with 6 children. A 7th was left in Austria. David had brothers Solomon (Kalmen), Joseph (Jossif), Charles (stayed in Russia), and Herman. There were some sisters that stayed in Russia. Solomon, age 22 came to the US in 12/1908. Joseph, age 21 came to the US in 12/1911 with his niece, the 7th child Lillie (Chaie), age 16 that had been left in Austria. There was also an Isidore (Israel) and Lottie (Slotki) Saltz. Isidore may have been David’s nephew or cousin. Lottie came in January 1912 to the US. It is not known when Isidore came (1910/11). David took his family to Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1906 and the others followed. David and Anna returned to Brooklyn, New York 1915-1918 with their 2 youngest. The others remained in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Some went to New Orleans. It is speculated that there were other relatives that went to South Africa from Russia. Documentation for arrival dates can be found at Ellis Island (ellisisland.org). |
